On November 6, 2009, Ge Guoxing, deputy general director of the Department of Human Resources and Social Security (DHRSS) of Guangdong Provice, Gan Wenchuan, general director of the Employment Service Management Bureau of Guangdong Province, and Cai Huanxing, director of the Shenzhen Municipal Leading Group Office, lead an 11-member research team to visit the Wenguang production base of T&W in Xili party. A dedicated research symposium about the issue of migrant workers' registering permanent residence in Shenzhen was held in the conference room on F3, BLD 13 of the Wenguang factory. Fifteen representatives of T&W attended the symposium, including Qi Jianzhong, assistant of the general manager, Gong Pusheng, production director, Chen Kai, assistant manager of the General Management Dept, and other factory workers and cadres.
The research team carefully listened to the discourse and doubts of the representatives, queried about their own situation, and answered their questions. In addition, the research team suggested that the representatives pay attention to the government's policies and measures on the issue of migrant workers' registering permanent residence in Shenzhen and advance positive suggestions to the government. The research team also pointed out that migrant workers should share the benefit of city development while contributing their efforts. Only when one further engages himself in the city and improves his sense of belonging and responsibility can he better integrate himself with the enterprise and the city.
